electronic Common Prayer App Reviews

30 add

Great app, but

Love the integrated working between the office/services and the lessons. The last update lost the ability to adjust the size of the print. That needs to be fixed! I agree with a previous review - I am very disappointed in the Enriching Our Worship add on. I would really like to see it integrated into the body just as the canticles were. A form for Eucharist with its two Eucharistic prayers also need to be added in for those of us who use it on a regular basis.

A Decent First Try But Needs Work

If youre looking for all of the non usual orders of worship, instructions and materials from the physical BCP, theyre largely not here. If you want the basics of the 7 sacraments, the daily office and the peppers, theyre here. Also theres no way to coordinate a group using this and the paper BCP - I cant put in page numbers and go to the right item.

Needs an update

Im getting warning messages that this app will slow down my phone and needs to be updated for compatibility with iOS 10. It would also be great if navigational flow were improved because the clicking back and forth is not intuitive.

Disappointed

I do not recommend purchasing this App. This is not the complete BCP. Difficult to navigate. Clumsy

Perfect BCP App

Use the Book of Common Prayer? You need this app! The most flexible and powerful of all the BCP apps, you gain full access to every liturgy, readings, calendar options, along with the ability to search, bookmark, email, and print any section or lection. Great for on-the-spot prayers, liturgy planning, or todays Daily Office.

No page numbers

Although the app has the daily office, and uses bookmarks effectively, there are no "page numbers" in the app, which makes it difficult to use this app along side the printed copy of the Prayer Book.

Bugs, bugs

Runs fine on iPhone but the write up says it works on iPad running 5.0 or higher. It will not run on 5.1.1 (screen flashes and then closes) and there seems to be no support that I can discern. Link for support goes only to a page with description and FAQs. Needs work.

Really good - needs page numbers

I am very impressed. This app is better than iBCP - the pages scroll, which is a huge improvement over iBCP, there are hyperlinked rubrics, and there is an up-to-date calendar-based lectionary that clicks through to scripture readings - AND you can access scripture readings from the relevant parts of worship services. Excellent. My one request is that you add page numbers - much like an Altar Book, when using this app to lead worship it would be helpful to be able to call out the relevant page numbers for those who are still using BCP 1.0 (print editions!). Thanks for a great and thoughtful app. Well done.

electronic Common Prayer

Im not usually a friend of electronic Prayer Books, much preferring the original. However, this is very good and well worth having. With a little practice it is easy to navigate, and I especially like the additional liturgies and prayers from Enriching our Worship. The Revd Canon Stephen C. Casey

Disappointing App

An app like this should make it simpler. Since most people are going to have the same general preferences (rite 1 vs. rite 2), an app like this should let me set some preferences and then display a morning prayer to go through all at once. I dont need an electronic re-creation of the BCP with all the flipping back and forth.

Pretty good

Overall Im happy with this app. Nice to go from daily lectionaries to morning prayer service. Only bug Ive found so far is if you tap on "today" it takes you to a date in September. I tap again and then goes I correct date. Hoping for a fix soon!

Disappointed

The description says that this app works fine on iPad 2 using 2x feature (iOS 6.0.1). Well, it does, sort of. The resolution is very poor with jagged edges on the fonts and graphics giving a muddy, cloudy appearance. It is a pain having to set the font size each time on each screen. There is also too much flipping around, as stated in a previous review. I wish I had saved the $10 this app costs.

Needs Work

Works well on iphone -- but on ipad with 5.1.1 it immediately cuts out. On the iphone it works exactly as advertised ... and I look forward to the ipad glitch being fixed.

The core work is there, just needs a little polish

Nice app, best of the best for us to pray and worship. The core is there but there are a little things it needs like full IPad Retinal support. Once they get the little kinks out it will be a 5 star app. I cant wait for the newest version to fix the IPad issue.

Great app

Im really enjoying this app. I have used mission st. Clare in the past and this is better in my opinion. I recommend this even though its a little pricey.

Not bad once you get the hang of it

Im pretty impressed with this app. It felt clunky until I realized the back button really worked well, esp. when doing the Office and going to the various things one needs to flip to. I only wish the Calendar would give the readings for the other years, or somehow make them available.

Needs updating

Im an ordained Episcopal deacon and I get a lot of use from this app. However, since the update to iOS 7 things arent as nice. It crashes more often and the text doesnt automatically fit the screen like it used too. Time to update!

Good but needs two things

1. An easier way to navigate the More... section. You cant backtrack without closing and reopening. 2. Individual devotions! I cant believe they arent in here! It was 90% of the reason I bought the app. Yes, it has the Daily Office, which is great, but it doesnt help me pray the hours. :(

Crashes on iPad Air

I just paid $10 for this and cant open it. I was so excited to see this app available. What a disappointment. If they fix this bug I will be glad to upgrade this review.

Dissappointed

I just paid $10 for this app, and it doesnt even launch. Dont buy this app.
